Vitamins

For over 30 years vitamin B has been prescribed for relieving RSI symptoms. Many RSI sufferers have consistently reported that vitamin B intake alone has resulted in such significant improvements that surgery no longer became necessary. Various researches have conjectured that vitamin-B6 deficiency is a contributing cause to RSI and active research is still ongoing.

Whilst it is still unclear as to the precise reason why these vitamins seem to improve RSI symptoms, it is widely believed that vitamin B6 provides:

  • A pain relief mechanism due to its intrinsic connection to the neural system. Vitamin-B6 deficiency can cause the pain and tightness associated with CTS thus impeding the pain cessation messages to the brain.
  • An anti-inflammatory mechanism by reducing swelling around wrist area.

Other researches have found that vitamin B-2 and B-12 likewise provide statistically non-trivial RSI symptom improvements. Not surprisingly, it has been found that the combination B-2, B-6 and B-12 yield better results. Given that B vitamins are best absorbed with C vitamins, further adding Vitamin C to the mix improves the net absorption.

One easy way to consume these vitamins is to buy a bottle of Vitamin B complex which contains vitamin C. Preferably these vitamins should not be derived from yeast-related products. Improvements are usually seen at around the 2 - 3 week mark, but a full 6 weeks should be allowed for the full absorption. After a few months you should consume only the daily recommended levels (if not already).

⚠️ IMPORTANT: Consuming extreme doses of Vitamin B6 can lead to neuropathy, essentially frying your nerves. Large (but no extreme) doses should be consumed only temporarily (e.g. the first week or so), then prescribed doses should resume. Pregnant women should consult a doctor before consumption of vitamins beyond the recommended daily levels.
